my mountain ash is about 7 years old . has been doing fine until this year. We live in british columbia canada. This year some leaves are curling up new leaves come and then curl up . Has only one small cluster of berries.

It sounds as though it may be in a very exposed site, as the leaves are curling, or perhaps it's too dry at the roots. I don't know what your weather is like over there, but if it's been doing OK for 7 years, it could be a disease of some sort, like fireblight. You'd probably have to spray it with a fungicide to stop this happening. Have a look on the web for SORBUS, and see what it says. There are several other diseases that sorbus are prone to, like canker, honey fungus or silver leaf.
