can gaura's be grown from cuttings

Yes, they can, Peggy, and now is the time to do it. It's better if you can take a piece from right at the bottom, near the roots, I find, as it seems to root more successfully. In fact if you can pull off bits with a little bit of root that's even better. I did this last year and it was quite successful. They are such lovely plants, and not really well known, are they? I lost mine during that awful winter, so I've just got another one, and am about to take my cuttings from it, so we'll have to compare notes next year!!

This is an interesting question Peggy. I have some and lose them every year. I have never tried cuttings, how about showing how you do it in a photo Anne?
