when is the best time to trim back my grape trees? This is the first year i have grown them, plenty of foliage, in fact too much as its taking over the green house and they are entwining with each other. Dont think the tree produces fruit in the first year of growth.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Make sure you only prune your grape vine in winter or it will bleed sap.

The second half of December is really the latest you should be doing this as the sap starts to rise again very early in the year

in winter untie the rod support the top and cut the
laterals back to one or two buds from point where they
join the rod,do this every year after a year or two cut back
to two buds they will get to 2-3in (5-7.5cm) long known
as ''spurs''
next scrape any loose bark off the rod wher a higing place
for bugs and scale insects
