Only one of my Delphiniums has set seed. If I leave them on the plant, I may lose them . . . but if I take off the underripe seeds and put them in the greenhouse, are they likely to ripen? Thanks

Better to let your seed ripen on the plant.

Thanks Mg, I suspected that might be the right thing to do.

Sheilabub, not related to your question, but I took those cuttings of the Erysimum about 3 weeks ago when you told me to - they seem to be growing, putting out new leaves, but I'm too nervous to turn them out to see if there's roots to pot them up separately. Seems a bit quick to me, what do you think? And should I keep them in a cold frame (not that I've got one) over winter in pots?

Great news Bamboo - how exciting! I would leave them in their pots for now (what size are the pots?), then pot them on when they get to about 4" high. If they're already in largish 3 - 4" pots, no need to disturb them. Have you got a windowsill in a cold bedroom, or any other frost-free place to keep them over winter?

I can find somewhere to keep them safe, but at the moment, they're four cuttings all round the edge in the same small pot - so my query was when is it safe to risk turning them out and potting individually?

Oh sorry. Maybe in about a month? If nervous(!) just take one of them out (carefully), then if there is a good root system, they can all be potted up. Bonne chance!

Thanks - I'll wait another week or so I think. They are definitely putting out new leaves in the centre though... how lucky will that be if all four have rooted! Now all I've got to do is get them through the winter, lol!
