When my lilies have finished flowering do I let them die right back or do I cut them back.

You can cut off the flowered stems now, but best to leave the foliage to die back.

I've done the same as Maggy7 and 2nd year in and the are fine. The display this year was better than last so they must like it!

Yes leave them to die back untill they are looking very untidy and then cut back, well thats what I have just done and they do come back lovely each year.
