I have taken some pods from my daughters garden of her perennial sweet pea. Do I dry the pods or can I take seeds out now and plant them?

I think it would be best to take the pods off only when they have dried and the seed is viable. Have the pods gone brown & dry? If so thats fine, I would then scatter the seeds where you wish them to grow and wait til spring.
