hi all is it unusual for a helebore to be in flower this time of year sorry dont know which one it is whiteish the flowers hang down on sandy soil semi /shade west facing in lincolnshire.thanks in advance.

I saw Helleborous for sale at the GC and they were in flower. Maybe it's the variety as these were pale flowers.

I have a double white one in full bloom, Kennyboy. I was VERY surprised to see it!

many spring plants put up the odd flower in autumn as the flowering is triggered by daylength. as the lengths are similar the plants go through the process. It's similar to some birds that build nests at this time of year. then as the days get shorter they stop.

I have a primrose "borrowed" from the wild which is now in bloom again. Poor things are confused! :o)

I think most plants are 'mixed up' this year with the weather. My helleborous (which sounds like yours) is not flowering at the moment.
