Please can someone tell me about my nesting box.
I put one up in February this year and withing a few weeks it was occupied by blue tits.
They had six young, and they flew the nest.
My question is "Do I clean all the nest and bits out of the box, or leave the nest in."
I live in the north of Scotland.

The bird box should be well cleaned as our Great Tit's are suffering from a parasite which is causing them to lose feathers and leaving lesions on them which are proving to be fatal. Experts are concerned that they could seriously decline.
You should also clean your bird feeders and tables.

Thank you for your answers. I will do as you say and clean it out and give it a good scrub.
Then look forward to the spring.

Thoroughly clean the box out ready for using next year, including giving a good scrub if possible.
