Can anybody identify this mystery plant? I don't know whether to root it out or carefully encourage it.

I thought the leaf ends are rather rounded for Phytolacca americana, though it's very similar. A bit of Googling makes me think that it's Phytolacca acinosa (Indian pokeweed)

Thanks very much guys. As a supplementary question - how on earth did it get here (North Germany)?
And they are rather poisonous, aren't they - should I maybe root it out?

Nooooo - just don't eat it! (as if you would...)

Good point! It has chosen to grow between the raspberries and the strawberries with blackberries not far away, and we have grandchildren - but I guess they aren't stupid either.

You'll need to warn them not to eat the fruit when it matures, then - it's a deep maroon almost black colour.
