Sorry! Have not asked a question for some time May 2010 in fact. But here goes with a silly one. Just bought some Ranunculus bulbs. Which way up do I plant them!!!!

Though even if you plant them the wrong way up they will still sort themselves out and send down roots and put up growth.

But planting them upside down can delay or prevent bloom, since they use a lot of energy to "turn around". Generally, when in doubt, plant them sideways--which can still be hard to decide with things like Anemone coronaria! : )
