how do i take cuttings from strawberry plants

Strawberries are usually propagated from "runners" which are like a thin wiry stem with a little plant on the end which you can either pin down onto the soil, or into a pot, when they,re rooted, just detatch from the parent plant by cutting the stem, and you have a new plant

It's easy to pot up the runners - new little plants should have appeared on the ends of them. Make sure they've rooted themselves, of course.
