Does anyone know the name of the pictured plant? It just appeared in one of my raised beds in late May this year and has been growing ever since. It's about 30cm high and is not attacked by any of the usual pests.

It's a Euphorbia - caper spurge (E.lathyrus) is prone to pop up like this.

the sap can be an irritant as with all euphorbias, its a pest weed here. Interestingly it is said to deter moles although it certainly hasnt been effective in my yard :-/

Many thanks for your answers - I feel I've learnt something. Apologies for the delay but work gets in the way !

It looks a bit like one of the Euphorbias, an evergreen perennial.
