What would you plant in this border?

The border is triangular in shape. On one edge is a path, the second is edged by the lawn and the third by a raised pond. It measures approximately 1.5m x 2m x 2m. The border is near to the house so scent would be great but leaves flying around in Autumn - no. Also, I planted a Phormium which grew too tall and blocked the light coming into through the kitchen window. Any help would be much appreciated.

try planting a few scenred Herbs. Like Rosemary Lavender . And near a corner so you brush against it Southernwood (Artemesia abrotanum) sometimes called Old Man or Lads Love. . Some Thyme near the edge. You can have Lemon scented. or usual. and for special scent Thymus herba barona. There are a variety of Mints too including Eau de Cologne., but they do die down in Winter. Even evergreen trees and bushes lose their leaves eventually.

a good plant for late evening scent is the night Phlox. There are annual species as well as perenial ones. Its latin name begins with Z. the perenial one is low growing and this winter it has kept most of its leaves. What about dwarf hebes? they shed leaves little and often through out the year.
