Damaged Lily
I've just accidentally snapped one of my lilies in half. Whoops :-(
Should I just cut it off at the base or let it die back on its own? I was wanting to lift the bulbs and move them anyway- can I do this now? I always leave them in the ground and they haven't died on me yet.....

I agree too hot at the moment. you could cut the snapped stem down if there are others in from the bulb.

Too hot - bah ;-( I wish in rainy, misty Scotland.
Lilies ar bulbs and the foliage will die down shortly anyway. I would just let it be until the foliage has died off and then lift it as planned.

Sorry about that, Bulbaholic - but frankly, you'd be welcome to some of this heat - not to mention the pollution forming haze over the fields which has built up today.

We had temps of 25˚C the last two days, today was wet, wet, wet oh and 13˚C!

Well, at least you had some warm weather I suppose. I recall now on the weather forecast they said people in the north might be confused to hear all the talk of heat, because the change in the weather will start up there and work its way down...

I'd let it die back on its own - you can move them now provided the ground's not too dry - its so hot at the moment it would be better to wait for cooler, damper weather.
