we have an acacia baileyana purpurea tree in our garden which has been badly damaged by frost. Is there anything we can do to resuscitate it?

Yes, I totally agree, leave it until it starts to get warmer and new growth takes hold, then you can trim off any dead bits. Acacias don't respond well to pruning so leave well alone until you know where to trim

I have had plenty of plants damaged :-( - so have other members. The concensus seems to be to wait a while and see whether they recover sufficiently to be viable - and not to cut them back yet.
