Plant I.D and prune advise.
This plant is in a rockery type feature that has received no attention for year.
Please advise on how to prune and what the plant is called, as i hope you can see, the plant is large and blocks the view of rocks and plants to the rear, so i am wondering if i can prune back hard to create a smaller shrub and enabling a view to the rear.

As it's in a rockery area, I'd guess it's hypericum androsaenum. Cut it right back, almost to ground level, in early spring (you will see where the lowest shoots are by then)

Well its Hypericum, looks a bit sparse for Hidcote, but if its growing from a central clump rather than throwing up shoots far and wide, its probably that. Best pruned hard in March, but some people do it now.
