I got some seeds for basil and for cucumbers, when should i start putting them into pots to be able to get seedlings

Basil can be sown and grown at any time on a sunny windowsill. I have tiny seedlings already, having planted a few in the greenhouse a week ago. Sorry, can't help with cucumbers - never grown them.
