will my variagated geranium survive overwinter in north wales if i cover them with fleece

Do you mean pelargonium? An ivy leaf shape? Usually produces a pink flower head in pots and hanging baskets? If yes, then you will have to take them indoors and do lots of tlc during the winter, keeping them above 5C, just about moist, with warmth and light. May be more cost effective just to buy new plugs from garden centre in spring?! The hardy geraniums I know are perrenial, dying back naturally in winter, and recurring. Variegated varieties are always more tender - try leaf mulch as a cheaper alternative to fleece?
