This sounds like an essay title and it would need an essay to answer it. I reckon about 4 or 5 pages might just about cover it ;-)

Well you'll need to ask a question that's a lot less vague to get a useful answer as there isn't a "one size fits all" formula.

What seeds, what plants, what season, what conditions.

I got very confused when reading the question.

I'm not surprised Alex. it is such a huge general question it is impossible to answer without, as Beattie states, writing a long essay.

Thomas, could I suggest that you ask a question about one particular plant at a time? We're happy to advise you, and also don't mind answering several questions.

It does depend on what conditions each particular plant needs, and what you mean by preparing the plant. You'd need a book to answer such a general question. As the others have said, try to ask a more specific one.
