Not a question just an observation. My garden appears to be in a high state of confusion.Three or four welsh poppies have just flowered as has a mock orange which has produced a dozen or so flowers which usually appear in May.Also a crocus appears ready to burst into flower!Don't know which is more confused , the garden or me! . Perhaps we've skipped Winter and jumped straight to spring!!!Just wondered if anyone else has noticed strange things happening in the garden

Same here Lynne..but it's been a confusing year lets face it. I've got a penstemon merrily flowering in my own garden,& in the one i've 'resurrected' for my non greenfingered pal who has all my 'unsuitables'(different ground type there) & most of my separatings, grown ons,& random test cases/unwanteds,there is a delphinium that reflowered again a few weeks ago, which is lasting much longer this time round with only weak sun on it. An oriental poppy with 2 buds ready to burst at any mo, & a lone foxglove thats decided to flower...any more for any more folks?

Lots of plants are confused at the moment - the length of daylight hours and varyious temps trigger each specific genus into growth.
I have allsorts of things in flower here currently !

On a walk on the clifftops here last week there were lots of violets in flower, as well as sea pinks (thrift) and sheeps' bit - those beautiful little blue mini scabious. In October?

Plants flower when they feel like it... we dictate when they should or shouldn't

I have a wild primrose that's been blooming happily since August and an Agapanthus about to open the buds on one of the two new flower spikes!

My ceanothus has a few flowers, and yesterday I saw some wild primroses. The world has gone mad.

Hi All
This is all normal plants do flower outside their normal flowering season... Just keep a chart of plants flowering in autumn when they are not meant to and you'll soon see...

We've still got Mecanopsis cambrica (Welsh poppies) flowering and would expect them to do so until the frosts cut them back. There are autumn flowering crocuses as well as spring ones, these should be flowering now - our are. You can get a second flush of flowers on Philadelphus if the weather is mild.
