Is there a variety of laurus nobilis with less rigid leaves but with a very similar scent?

I have some bay-like shrubs growing in a wooded part of my garden in south-west France near orunus laurocerasus.
I have now come to the conclusion that these plants are indeed bay, and are self-propagating very successfully in woodland. The first plant probably grew from the seed of fruit dropped by a bird. They are surrounded by young laurel, also self-propagating well.
