I tried washing up liquid on my parrot plant. It killed it. I want to be sure if I use a soap solution that will not do the same. If soap is ok does it matter which and where eo I get it from? I have been growing busy lizzie parrots for about 15 years. There are v hardy indoors so long as they get enough water and light (not full sun). So easy to take cuttings from

It needs to be soap rather than detergent and not very strong either. A bar of palmolive type soap is fine. wash your hands in a bowl and use that. hope this helps.

If it's RSM, then I've had success with Vicks Vaporub!
Take a bowl and place it in the bottom of a clear plastic bag. Put a grill on top of the bowl and pour a mix of Vicks and boiling water into the bowl. Make sure that none of the roots are protruding through the bottom of the pot and stand the plant on the grill. Pull the bag up and seal for six hours or so. I repeated this every three days for two weeks.
