Replanting Magnolia Stellata
United Kingdom
I have a mag stell as a memorial tree for my son. it has been planted in the grounds of my local church for 19 years and has always been so healthy each year. However, the church is now going to close (don't even go there!) so I will have to dig it up and bring it home. I'm very concerned about doing this and want to give it the best possible chance of surviving the move. Will be grateful of any suggestions/knowledge.

Can you not google to see if there are any Magnolia societies? USA are very good at this type of thing and often experts. They may even be able to advise on taking a grafting/cutting just in case too. The only other thing I know, is to take as much of the soil with the plant as possible. Maybe it would be work getting several local "gardeners" to give quotes and advice? Good luck, and best wishes!

« could any 1 tell me the best way of getting rid of a tree stump
I'm no expert on magnolias but I have heard that they do not like to be disturbed so, please don't get your hopes up. I'm sure somebody on this site will have more knowledge than I and, hopefully, may be able to give you some hope on this sad problem.
