I'm just having fun thinking about what I shall be doing in the garden next year, and trying to draw up some sort of planting plan. Can anyone tell me whether spurges negatively affect other plants nearby? I know walnuts kill off anything within quite a large radius.Does anyone know of other "hostile neighbour" plants?

Are they, now? What a shame. I love them and they grow rather well here, but another invasive plant I DO NOT need! Any particular offenders, or should I be wary of the whole lot?

Have you seen Japanese spurge with white flowers and purple tips?

Are you making things up again, Pimpernel? Or do you mean Pachysandra? Surely that's not a proper spurge, is it?

I find they all seed far too readily

I have one that I bought in a pot over 10 years ago, it is six inches or so, in spring the soft pine like leaves turn from green to red/plum half way up the stem and form acid yellow bracts. I would love it to invade , but it won't.

Lol...Oi I am not your OH, but yes you are right technically...OK you are right.
I have no idea what variety it is, I checked just before to make sure I still had it growing under the Cotinus and I have, It is evergreen. I think the shade of the Cotinus must be hampering it..I will root some up tomorrow and see if I can repot it in sunshine and get seed. I will put a pic up tomorrow so you can see how delicate it looks.

Whilst I am not aware of them killing of other plants some are rather invasive.
