An ornamental cherry tree in my garden died a couple of years ago and for the last two autumns fungus has appeared along the dead roots and the bottom of the stump. This is not honey fungus because I have had it professionally checked.
Now there are orange coloured cankers appearing on the dead tree trunk - see attached photo.
Can anyone advise me what this might be?

Agree with Moon grower, a fungus that feed from dead and decaying wood, not one that is responsible for the tree's demise
