I would be more inclined to say Solomon Sea as the Hostas would be more in a clump whereas the solomon Seal are more individual stalks. In a few days you will soon tell the difference, S.Seal will have long stalks about 18" high, with the leaves on the top, curving over, whereas the Hostas will open out into broad clusters of leaved at ground level.
Hope you are soon able to come to a decission! by the way, Welcome to Goy,we will be interested to hear from you if you get a definate answer, otherwise post a picture in a week or two when it will be more identifiable.

My guess is that it could be an ornamental ginger, it would be interesting to see what it turns out to be when it unfurls the leaves.

I have 2 of these type shoots coming up in my garden too which I noticed yesterday; near where I planted an Arisaema bulb last year.. The're not near any Hostas or Solomon's Seal plants, and too far apart to be the Arisaema, so I thought it couldn't be any of those.. but then I remembered.
I threw a couple of Hosta seed pods out of my bedroom window last year, and it was in that direction.. I wonder if it's them..!

How fascinating to hear what you keep in your bedroom, Rydeboy - OK, I won't ask what they were doing there. ;-)

Certain they are not hosta. I think they could well be Arisaema, if they are you are lucky ,they are not the easiest of plants to grow.

Hehe.. I brought them home from work with me and left them lyiing around for a few months before deciding I couldn't be bothered doing anything with them. Did the same with Datura seeds actually but no sign of any of them yet!
