Growing veggies in a dresser drawer

I was wondering if it is safe to plant veggies and herbs in a dresser drawer? Is it usual for particle board used for dressers to be treated with toxic chemicals that can poison my plants?

I grew my lettuce in an old drawer and had no problems last year, this year its a nursery bed for my cabbages and they are also thriving, just remember to drill drainage holes in the bottom.

Well the boards will certainly have been treated with chemicals but so long as the soil you use is not polluted it should be fine - though I am curious as to why you would want to grow veggies in a dresser drawer...
