Hi, I have some crushed charcoal which was bought for my budgies before finding out that it is not necessary for them.

Would the garden benefit from this?

I thought that it was useful when perennials start to grow to keep slugs out. Others will comment if it is compostable.

It is good at the bottom of the water but.

Not aware that it is of any use in the garden put it in the water butt as Pimpernel suggests.

We use it as a long-lasting soil conditioner here, and to keep the water sweet when forcing bulbs in vases, or bowls of gravel. It is often a good thing to add in moderation if you make your own potting compost.
