can i use conifer shreddings on the vegetable patch?

Answers
Conifer shreddings also contain resins that leach out and can be toxic to other plants. Don't use it on the garden as such but it can make excellent material for paths.

Agree with above ... You can also put it under hedges as a weed suppressant. Or, as suggested above, any paths etc to keep the mud off and weeds out. I have used it at 8" depth to smother ivy and ground elder - when they come to the surface they pull out by the metre.

I wouldn't. These tend to be acidic and most if not all veg prefer a slightly alkaline soil. Also the decomposition process could remove Nitrogen from the soil and again Vegetables like a high Nitrogen content, especially the green leafed ones.
