Identification please. I took this photo in south-west Spain - obviously Mediterranean area. It amazed me because of its thick incredibly thorny branches but with such a delicate flower. Could it be the plant referred to as 'Crown of Thorns?'

Yes it could be Euphorbia Milii are what look like red flowers actually bracts with a tiny yellow flower in the centre?

A friend of mine keeps this as a houseplant and calls it Crown of Thorns, too, so I think you and MG are right.

We used to have one as a house plant amny years ago - I don't remember what happened to it. You still see them in garden centers occaisionally.

and they grow wild in the Med. I remember getting a nasty scrape from one.

Yes Avkg it is what you think of as flowers are actually bracts.
