Roses

I saw a special offer in a newspaper for 5 rose bushes which I sent off for. They have just arrived and I have planted them but they are covered in a sort of green wax. No signs of growth. I wonder if I should be trying to remove the wax or will new growth appear through it.They didn't come with any instructions.

Yes, I purchased roses and grapes here with that wax on and, not having seen it before, was a little sceptical, but soon after planting shoots appeared through the wax and the plants are now very healthy and glossy.

My new addition from the DIY shop has wax on the canes Ginellie. I've often bought roses like this. No problems. It helps to keep the rose hydrated during shipment and also protects the canes. The new buds will push through it.

Checked the rose bushes everyday and finally, after all the rain, a new bud on each one. Thanks for the encouragement to persevere.

Leave the wax. I just got one myself with instruction that the plant will take care of that itself. It is just a seal to keep it safe from bumps and pests in transport. I have new shoots coming right through it.
