Would my mag stall grow in a large pot? ... any advice?:)

Probably Magnolia stellata ???. Yes it would provided it was never dried out and fed every 2 weeks with a decent liquid feed from May to september.

Well if it is any kind of magnolia, they loathe root disturbance, so don't make good pot subjects - they'd hate being potted on or repotted.

I have one of those in a big pot, its been in there for 3 years now and each year it gets more stunning, I also planted a magnolia grandiflora last year in a large pot expecting it not to grow so big as it was in a pot and its halfway up my house now, I honestly did not think it would grow so big in a pot and the flowers are huge and magnificent.

Marion, there's no reason why your magnolias wouldn't be good in pots - until they need repotting because they're rootbound.
