Thank you all for answering my question about can a climbing rose grow up my tree. Wait for it----any ideas on which climbing rose? The area is abit shady and I would love something that keeps flowering, not bothered about the colour.

I have Pauls Scarlet growing almost to the top of a rather tall Laburnum. It was planted at the same time as the tree. Its been there for 20 odd years and needs very little attention. However, it's an older breed of rose. Apart from a few flowers later on after June/July, and the occasional glimmer in Autumn. That is it. It was a tiny bare root snippet from Tesco bought on a whim. So try not to put too much angst into your choice!
