Unexpected frost severed several bushes and plants, hope they still have life, expect to have to wait till frost is over to cut them back ?

That's because the dead parts are helping to protect the living parts from further frosts. Once the frost is over, and things are sprouting, just cut off anything that isn't sprouting strongly--weak sprouts usually mean damage to the stem farther down--and maybe a bit more for balance and shape.

its the same as frost bite realy apart from we cant regrow the digits we lose lol so end up not being able to count to 20 any more lol .
