We have a sloping back garden with sun in the afternoon, the soil is very sandy and we were wondering what sort of ground covering plants would be good for here?

I know some dianthus´too. If the earth is containing lime, there will do the Dianthus plumarius.
If not, Dianthus deltoides, D. gratianopolitanus. You can easily look, what PH-wishes all european plants have by:
FloraWeb.de. The side is in German, Jou see the need of lime or acid under: "Reaktionszahl". ! means very sour, 9 means very chalky, basic. If You cannot handle the informations in German, I´ll do it for You. But it would be good to know the acidity. Nelke.
