Tradescantia purple sabre, two or three stems have rotted off at ground level.If I cut them off can I make new plants with them ,either by rooting powder , and plant ,or in water .

I root mine in water,usually in a small Evian bottle. The pieces need to be about 2 inches long, no more, strip off the lower leaves, pop in water on the kitchen windowsill and keep topped up. They root really quickly.
