have had this one a couple of years and it has grown alot since. it is very fast growing. i just cant remember what it is?

now you have said that i remember buying a japanese acer. could this be it? i lost alot of plants due to the dog so i might have already lost that one. i have changed the picture to a closer pic . some of the leaves seem to have a red tinge to them

Not an acer - particularly if it is fast growing as acers are slow growing. Nstressful suggest you label all your plants as you get the answersand take pix and label those too!

is it one of the ornamental elders they tend to be fast growing? is it called Sambucus? The flowerbuds look like elderflowers.

Yes, it is a sambucus - mine is at the same stage, just about to flower

Here you are: Sambucus racemosa 'Plumus Aurea'. (not that clever - I just checked the long name in my plant list!!!!)

Ah - mine is sambucus racemosa 'Goldenlocks', similar but a smaller tree at maturity
