Although not a climber, but can fanned out and attached to a trellis, then Cytisus battandieri (Argyrocytisus) the Pineapple Broom with its pineapple scent and evergreen silver-green leaves will be a gem on a west facing fence. You can also try Trachelospermum jasminoides, the Star Jasmine, evergreen with leaves changing to red in the autumn and fragrant, white flowers in summer.

Wow jimmytheone, what a fantastic looking plant to recommend, I have just googled it and it looks amazing. I wish I had somewhere to plant one in my garden lol

Plain old honeysuckle is great on a west fence as it releases its perfume in the evening sunshine.

Whilst I love the plant, I've got reservations about Cytisus battandieri for this area - this plant prefers full sun in a sheltered, south facing position, and is not always hardy in the north.

Mine has survived the last two winters with extra low temperatures and although I live in the south east my garden is in a frost pocket and my Cytistus is fanned against a west-facing fence.

Akebia quinata, Schizophragma, Hydrangea anomala, Passiflora caerulea. Lonicera brownii 'Dropmore Scarlet' might work there too assuming it gets some sun in the afternoons.
