I have Phycomyces nitens growing in my veggie bed as the local cat has used it as a toiilet - is it safe to plant my veggies?

The short answer is yes. Don a pair of rubber gloves and get stuck in... we have to siamese and have to watch it when we plant things. Obviously if you can see the faeces remove them.
