good light but no full sun at any time of day. Any ideas please on perhaps a rose to grow up the trellis on the wall. I need to try to hid a doorway. If a rose is out of the question any other ideas please.

Yes I'd go New dawn. [thats my logo] or you could go with a climbing hydreanga. an earlier q talks about this and alternatives.

Souvenir du Docteur Jamain is an old rose - very dark red flowers and a good scent that likes shade. Unfortunately it is not a strong grower but if space is limited, it may be an option

I had a Mm Alfred Carriere on a north wall and it grew OK. You will always have less flowers in this position. Other roses include A Shropshire Lad, Golden Showers, Mme Gregoire Staechelin, New Dawn(my fav) and Veilchenblau. Just make sure it gets plenty of food and water and prune properly as it will try to grow up to the light and may get bare at the bottom
