what do other members reccomend in kniphofias? We have free draining sandy soil, so thought it would be perfect plant.something tall-ish and pref. evergreen but not essential.

thanks Bamboo. Yes, I have been looking for these in garden centre but with no luck so far. Hopefully somebody on this site will have them and be able to tell me all about them.

I bought a lemon coloured hot poker last year - always avoided them because not into red/orange colours. Very pleased with the plant which is v low maintenance, and the birds loved it when it seeded :-)

Previous question
I've never grown any evergreen ones, but I do like the colour of the flowers on Kniphofia rooperi, which is evergreen.
