Is this plant dying?

Norfolk, United Kingdom

This evergreen shrub, (sorry, it was here when I moved in nearly 11 years ago, don't know what it is!) seems to be dying...... Does anyone else agree? It's only just started to look like it. Mind you, it is next to the stump that has those fungi toadstools, so I don't know. What do other Goy'ers think?

im no expert as you know but surely if it was affected my the fungi near it it would attack the roots first?
the rest of it looks pretty healthy/lovely to me?

maybe that stem is just a bit off?

Thanks Mookins and Andrewr!

I've just realised, I plopped a compost bin next to this plant a few weeks ago! Now I'm wondering if this is why it's dying? Durrrrrr! Methink I'd better move it, aggggh!!! Wanted to get the sun on it, to heat up the compost. It's already full, ggrrrrr!! (huffs and puffs......)

I don't think it is dying. It loooks as though the tips have had a touch of frost. The plant itself looks fine to me. Cut out the brown bits and see what happens.

Thanks Wyeboy! I think that's a great idea! Better than moving a full compost anyway, phew!!

Hmmmm, I think it may have a bit of frost bite too.

Frost has killed what looked like a flower stem on my Fatsia and it's just like this.
