failing black bamboo

I have a 20 year old of black bamboo , which has always flourished, last autumn it produced what looks like redish flowers on all canes, it is now looking very dead no green anywhere, i also hads some trees chopped down in the same vacinity, however next to the bamboo is a 20 year old wisteria and it is thriving, - any ideas

Yes , my understanding is that when they flower they die, sorry :(

I,m afraid, being it has "flowered" it WILL now die,they only live between 17-and 20 years,and someone may correct me, but all the bamboos of the same species will all pop their clogs.
