What plants will tolerate acid conditions?
By Bhappy
What plants will tolerate acid conditions in an area that only gets sun for a while in the morning? Planted in soil adjacent to a fence, so height (up to 6 ft) not an issue in fact welcomed.
I've planted a few heathers so far.

I'd avoid Camellia if it gets early morning sun in winter particularly. If it doesn't get sun till later in the morning, fine.
Skimmias like acid conditions and shade - you'll need both male and female plants if you want berries though. Japanese Acers will quite like it too.

Thank you for your ideas. It's not a big space but I have planted skimmia and an azalea which is looking lovely in bloom just now.
I found some bedding plants to fill the gaps as well as recommended by the very helpful chap at the garden centre so hope to get some colour for most of the season.

Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Pieris........and that's just a start.
