Anyone else have experience about how to grow a cordyline Australis PALM the best way?

I have one pic here of our palm many years old now but trying to compete with the the lampost as a beanpole and suffers anorexia -even though we feed it phostrogen.
Soil could be too clay and possible poor drainage??

(live in a coastal area but not directly on the seafront.)

These do eventually grow very tall if they are happy. Either replant or grit your teeth and chop it down and see if it resprouts from the base.
