I planted my acer in the ground last year after it was in a pot, since then its branches have looked dry and brittle though they do have some buds on, will it flower again or have i killed by taking it out its pot.

No, you won't have killed it by planting it out. You don't say where you are in the UK, but if you're in a drought area (south, east) it may well be short of water, so if that's a possibility, give it a good soak while you can. We've only got till Wednesday to use a hose.

Erm,sorry Snoopdog, no, don't feed it tomato food - that has too high a potash level for a foliage plant. Just give it a general purpose feed such as Growmore or similar as the leaves start to come out. Assuming they do, that is...
