Any thoughts on this.
I have seen a most beautiful tree that is covered in pink blossom's it's branches grow down and the whole tree is shaped like umbrella.
I would think its about 8ft high, showing nothing only pink blooms.
I did take a pic with my mobile but unable to post as I've mislaid its connection.
Any Ideas ?

Thanks Bamboo for the name.
Ive been looking at various web sites and still cant find a picture of the tree, only close ups of the pink blooms which is not what.

Our flowering weeping cherry is exactly as you describe it... not sure which one it is though!

When I googled Prunus kiku shidare, there were four shots of different trees of this variety taken from a distance. They were young trees, but even so...

Thanks for all our comments, I'm sure its a weeping tree as such, this one is very full with beautiful thick pink blooms all hanging down in a perfect umbrella shape it has no green showing at all. I've not seen one like it before, but would truly like to own one.
I'm thinking of being brave and knocking the door asking for its name, if i do i will post on here.

Many Japanese flowering cherries flower on bare wood - the leaves follow later. If the one you saw was a perfect umbrella shape, that means its a weeping variety, and the same length of branch all round, most likely its been trimmed to that effect.

Sure its not a magnolia? There are some amazing ones about this year.

Won't be magnolia if its a weeping tree...

Thanks Angela but it's not Magnolia, its defiantly from the weeping willow range.
Think your right Bamboo they could well of trimmed the bottom branches to make it look good.
Going tomorrow to ask owners the name.

It will have been grafted so there are no branches growing on the actual trunk.

Erm Katrina, not weeping willow - they have catkins this time of year, not blossom. Weeping prunus, probably.

Sorry about that, i know its not a weeping willow as I've have one for years and its covered in catkins.
Thanks for all your help.

It'll be one of the weeping cherries - Prunus kiku shidare and the like, there are several.
