Why is my weeping cherry blossom tree sprouting branches with white flowers? Should I cut these branches off?

It's in it's pink blossom now but also these white flowers from shoots from upper part of the tree. Have taken photos with my phone but not sure how to send them .

Are the shoots with white blossom also weeping, or going straight up or out?

it sounds like its grafted at the top and some of the root stock has grown some new shoots .

The shoots are going straight up and out.

Cut them off, right at the point where they come out of the main trunk/stem, as close as you can get. How long have you had this tree?

over twenty years but this has just happened over the last few years.

It sounds like its reverting as it ages. If it doesn't stop happening and the weeping form doesn't get more growth, probably time to replace it.

That sort of implies the flowers on your weeping tree should be pink, maybe? Any chance of a photograph? If not, where are the branches appearing from, the base of the tree, or higher?
