Hi,
I would like to know if it is too late in the year to cut back three branches on a mature and well-established Bramley apple tree, because they overhang a greenhouse. They are only about 1.5 inch thick.
[It probably was not necessary, but I have tried to add a photo of the branches, taken from underneath - I am not sure if it uploaded]. The tree already has a little spring growth.
If it is not too late, I may do some all-round pruning; it has not had any for years, and I am told it could do with some.

Do you know why you should not prune when the sap is up? Is it bad for the trees?

That is my understanding, they will bleed.
