When growing sweet peppers the fruit always seem to develope a fungal disease. why is this?

Answers

Is it a fungal disease or mildew? I grew some very successfully last year in the greenhouse but towards the end of the season the fruits went grey and hairy with a mildewy mould - I don't know why.
